Monster Hunter Wilds Beta - HDR Settings

This game does not seem to use the Xbox and PS5 HDR system calibration settings. Try to find data about the peak brightness of your TV on the site RTINGS.COM (value HDR peak brightness 10%) or see FAQ. Before adjusting, make sure you have set the TV settings correctly.

The game has in-game HDR settings:

Monster Hunter Wilds Beta HDR brightness

Max Brightness - adjusts the peak brightness. To understand the values, multiply the slider value by 100 and you will get the peak brightness value in Nits (i.e. 10 is 1000, 15 is 1500, etc).

Overall Brightness - adjusts the exposure level (brightness of the entire image). Leave it at 10 or adjust it to your preference.

Shadow Brightness - adjusts the black level. Adjust it to your preference, maintaining good black level but leaving details in the shadows visible.

Highlight Brightness - Seems to make minimal changes that barely affect the image.

Saturation and UI Brightness - adjust to your preference.

However, in the tested version for Xbox, the following problem is observed. The actual level of peak brightness of the game is much lower than set in the settings. For example, with the maximum value of Max Brightness 100 (what should correspond to 10k nits) the actual level of peak brightness does not exceed 885 nits. The best way would be to use the tone mapping modes of your TV and then adjust the Overall Brightness and Shadow Brightness sliders to your preference.
